DCAS journal 3: background and first shapes of the project

After reading those books and the knowledge that I had gathered, I realised that I wanted to do something conceptual. However, I thought that it would be quite hard to do something conceptual when I want to talk about racial stereotypes in the movie...
I felt like it was really important to talk not only about racial stereotypes but also about the consequences from it in the American system such as police brutality, prison population, identity crisis and social racism.
At this stage, I am still thinking about doing a movie in which it would tackle racial issues that a black men can encounter in his life, having an impact in his own definition of his identity.
Of course, about this subject, the background is very political and might afraid some people about the statement, but I believe that this kind of project can help the black community just like others movies that have been released about black masculinity and subject around it: homosexuality, hip hop music, patriarchal masculinity etc

About those movies, I started re-watching them in order to understand what they would use, how they would tell the story and in which narratives they would use.
