DCAS journal 4: visual survey : importance of colors

When I re-watched the movies, I noticed that in most of them, the storyline was "simple" such as moonlight: a black homosexual man that gets bullied at school and end up being someone he is not. However the way of telling that story is where the director and cinematographer use the form (triptych) and colors in order to convey a beautiful and strong statement.
there is a lot of videos on "the colors of barry jenkins".
I put some link below:

From what I've understood, the directors and cinematographers use a lot of colors and bold one in order to display a range of emotions and how complex they can be. It's not something new in the film industry but for those narratives, it is.
It allows to show black people, as natural and complexed entities at the same time. After a era of demonisation, it humanises them.
